Blake Shelton Ripped Over Prerecorded New Year’s

Country star Blake Shelton was supposed to ring in the new year with a bang, but instead he sparked a firestorm of criticism for his prerecorded performance at the New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash event.

Shelton was one of the headliners of the CBS special, which featured live and taped performances from various artists in Nashville, the country music capital of the world. The show was billed as a celebration of the city’s resilience and recovery after the devastating bombing that rocked its downtown area on Christmas Day.

However, many viewers were not impressed by Shelton’s contribution to the festivities, as they quickly realized that his performance was not live, but taped in advance at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Shelton sang some of his hits like “God’s Country” and “Minimum Wage”, but his vocals and movements did not match the audio and video, leading many to accuse him of lip-syncing and being lazy.

Fans and critics took to social media to express their disappointment and anger, calling Shelton out for his lack of effort and authenticity. Some even compared him unfavorably to his ex-wife Miranda Lambert, who delivered a fiery live rendition of her song “Tequila Does” with Jon Randall and Jack Ingram at the same event.

So why did Shelton opt for a prerecorded performance instead of a live one? According to his official website, he had a prior commitment to perform at his own Ole Red bar in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, where he celebrated the new year with his wife Gwen Stefani and her three sons. Shelton and Stefani also performed their duet “Happy Anywhere” at the bar, which was broadcasted on NBC’s New Year’s Eve special.

Shelton recorded his performance for the CBS special in advance at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, where he sang some of his hits like “God’s Country” and “Minimum Wage”. However, his fans and critics were not fooled by his prerecorded act, and they took to Twitter to vent their frustration and disappointment.

“@blakeshelton you should be ashamed of yourself for that pathetic lip sync performance on #NashvillesBigBash. You are better than that. #disappointed”, wrote one user.

“Blake Shelton is the laziest performer I’ve ever seen. He can’t even be bothered to show up live for a New Year’s Eve special. He just mails it in with a prerecorded video. #NashvillesBigBash #BlakeShelton”, wrote another.

“I love Blake Shelton but his performance on #NashvillesBigBash was so obviously prerecorded. His mouth didn’t match the words and he sounded too perfect. It was a letdown.”, wrote a third.

Some even compared Shelton’s performance with other artists who performed live at the event, and praised them for their energy and talent. Miranda Lambert, Shelton’s ex-wife, who delivered a fiery rendition of her song “Tequila Does” with Jon Randall and Jack Ingram, received a lot of compliments for her vocals and stage presence.

“Miranda Lambert just killed it on #NashvillesBigBash. She is the queen of country music. Blake Shelton who?”, wrote one user.

“Miranda Lambert is a legend. She sang live and sounded amazing. Blake Shelton should take notes from her. #NashvillesBigBash”, wrote another.

Brooks & Dunn, who rocked the crowd with their classic hits “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” and “My Maria”, also impressed the viewers with their charisma and enthusiasm.

“Brooks & Dunn are the best. They are so fun and lively. They make me want to dance. #NashvillesBigBash”, wrote one user.

“Brooks & Dunn are the real deal. They sing live and sound great. They are the true icons of country music. #NashvillesBigBash”, wrote another.

Carly Pearce, who paid tribute to the late Dolly Parton with a cover of “9 to 5”, also received a lot of applause for her performance, which honored the legacy of the country legend.

“Carly Pearce did a wonderful job of covering Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5. She sounded beautiful and respectful. #NashvillesBigBash”, wrote one user.

Shelton has not responded to the criticism over his prerecorded performance as of yet. He has not posted anything on his social media accounts since the New Year’s Eve special aired. It is unclear whether he is aware of the backlash or if he is choosing to ignore it.

Some of his fans have defended him, saying that he had a valid reason to prerecord his performance and that he still delivered a great show. They argued that he should not be judged for his personal and professional choices, and that he deserves respect and appreciation for his music.

Others have suggested that he should apologize to his fans and the organizers of the event, and admit that he made a mistake. They claimed that he should have been more honest and transparent about his prerecorded performance, and that he should have shown more commitment and enthusiasm for the occasion.

What do you think? Do you think Shelton deserved the backlash for his prerecorded performance? Or do you think he did nothing wrong? Let us know in the comments below.
